The great state of Florida senate seat race has taken an interesting turn these past few weeks. What was thought of as a sure fire victory for Charlie Crist just 6 weeks ago has been disproved and I could not be more happy about it. Marco Rubio has eliminated the polling results gap that previously existed and is poised to launch himself into the lead and not by an insubstantial amount.

Crist is deserving of this setback as he has provided us with the full benefit of his RHINO status at every opportunity. While his actions speak louder than his words (a good thing), they were rarely in keeping with the conservative mantra of the republican party he claimed to represent (a very bad thing) particularly in terms of fiscal responsibility and government intrusion.

The fact remains that Crist is a politician of little integrity in matters of political conviction. I expect that upon rising each morning,  he licks his index finger and thrusts it into the air above his head to see which way the wind is blowing, this to better determine his political philosophy/policy of the day. Not a quality of character or leadership the representative of Florida should embody.

He would have those who question this behavioral charade believe he is just enlarging the republican tent, but I see it quite differently. Governor Christ is a man who has succumbed to the disease that is Washington and did not even have to grace its corridors for this malady to take hold.  I believe Charlie would best serve the citizens of Florida by retiring from the public sector upon completion of his governorship or sooner…

This takes us to Marco Rubio, who by every measure of word is more reflective of my own conservative values. Values that I believe, through education and experience, are most certain to bring America back from the current brink that is progressive liberal dogma and to a revitalized entrepreneurial democracy.

What troubles me and is yet unresolved is whether Rubio is real or memorex. Is he just talking the talk that represents the current mindset reflective of the conservative uprising sweeping the nation, all to benefit his electoral prospects. Or, does he truly believe and to his very core, the premiss that when it comes to government, less is more and the more of less we get the better off we will all be.

The jury is out on this and will remain so for some time. One thing is certain however. The tolerance of voters like me for the about face taken by elected representatives of late will be tolerated no more. The republican party is for all intents and purposes different in name only to democrats when it comes to their actions of government these past 20 years. They have violated the very principles they espoused to get elected and more importantly than anything else have drifted far and wide from the consitutional principals they swore to uphold. Shame on them for their deception. We knew what to expect from democrats, the republican deception is a far greater evil.

The Marco Rubio’s of the American political arena need to know clearly that what they say prior to their election/hiring matters and deviation from the fundemental beliefs that made our retaining them possible will result in their immediate termination. No citizen is obligated to honor any term of office held by an elected representative when the basis of their employment has been violated. It is not ok for elected representatives to go from fiscal conservative, small government advocate to progressive liberal proponent once employed. Those days are over…
